The Kogi state Police Command have arrested two staffers of the federal medical center,Lokoja for forging sensitive documents of the presidency and office of the Head of the civil service of the federation as gathered by The Flame Magazine.
The police acting on a petition, from an aggrieved colleague of the two persons , allegedly said to be behind the employment racketeering scandal currently rocking the medical establishment.
The accused persons, [names withheld] were accused to have been at the center
of the employment scam, where over N250,000. Were collected from applicants per employment letters.
The officials were also accused to have engaged in employment of applicants without due regards to rules and procedures guiding such exercise in federal establishments.
For instance, the accused officials were allegedly said to have employed three female youth service corps members as permanent staffs even though they are due to pass out in November 2013.
Also , one of the officials was alleged to have forged a letter, and signature of one, Dr E.O. Oyemomi , said to be a permanent secretary, Career management, office of the Head of civil service of the federation, directing the conversion of one
of the accused persons from an administrative officer to a procurement cadre and his accelerated promotion from grade level 06 to grade level 12.
The petitioner also accused the management of the center of abetting and aiding the accused persons because the said officials were fraudulently diverting medical supply contracts to the companies fronted by some key management members.
They pointed to the fact that the accused officials, were still in their office, after securing police bail, instead of being placed on interdiction pending the conclusion of the case.
The police command spokesman, DSP Romanus Nwaneri, confirming the arrest of the accused persons, said that the police investigation was ongoing.
He said it was only when investigation has been concluded that he can say categorically, whether they would be charged to court or not.
The Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the federal medica center, FMC, DR Gbadebo Eleshin, also confirmed the arrest of some staff from his establishment.
He said the police came to invite a staff, who was said to have forged a letter from the office of the head of the civil service of the federation.
He also said that some of the recent employments by the establishment was rushed to beat the deadline of the electronic payment system , as it was necessary to capture the data of the staff by the office of the accountant-general.
