Elected chairmen in the central senatorial district of Kogi state has sent a strong appeal to the Nigerian Television Authority,(NTA), to put the NTA Okene into operation, by installing the transmitter and all other technical support.
The five chairmen, from Okene, Ajaokuta, Ogori/ Magongo, Okehi, and Adavi made the appeal yesterday when they visited the station to ascertain the reason why the station has remain dormant.
Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, the chairman of Ajaokuta LGA, Aloysius Okino, expressed dismay over the deterioration of the structures and equipmentat the station.
The chairmen who collectively promised to intervene in the repair of the physical structures at the station, however, called on the management of NTA Abuja to provide all the needed technical support for the effective take off of the station.
They commended the station officials for their commitment towards ensuring that the station come on air, saying that they would continue to provided all necessary support to ease their operation.
On the Otite Radio, the chairmen commended the effort of the state governor Capt. Idris Wada aimed at reviving the ailing booster station to ensure that the people are not cut off from information for too long.
According to them, the operations of NTA Okene and the Otite radio station would promote the culture and social activities of the people of the area as well as educate and afford the people accurate and timely information.
Earlier, the officer in charge of NTA Okene, Mrs. Fumi Adegbola, thanked the chairmen for their visit, which she described as timely and called for their intervention to bring the station into active operation.
