Kogi Govt. lauds Navy's support

The efforts and contribution of men of the Nigerian Navy located in Idah and Lokoja, Kogi State in combating crimes have been lauded by the Kogi State Government.

The Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada gave the commendation when he received the Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, Yenegoa, Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Ahmed Sidi Alih Hassan Usman.



Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, lauded the security contribution of the NNS Lugard Lokoja,in the arrest of pipeline vandals and providing security on the nations waterways.

With Kogi State sharing boundary with the federal Capital Territory,the Governor called on the Federal Government to locate an airport in Kogi State in view of its strategic location and for security reasons.

Capt. Wada commended the technical assistance the Navy rendered to the State government during and after last years flood.
The Governor called for more support for NNS Lugard Lokoja by the Federal Government to enable it discharge its responsibilities of protecting the nations waterways in view of the presence of the nation's two largest rivers in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, Rear Admiral Sidi Alih Hassan Usman, flag officer commanding Central Naval Command, Yenegoa, Bayelsa, said he was on a bi-annual inspection, aimed at assessing administrative and operational state of units under his command.

He commended the State Government's partnership and support to NNS Lugard, adding that the need for the Navy to be on their toe in the State following the state of insecurity in the country cannot be over undermined as a result of the presence of Rivers Niger and Benue in the State
