Wada: re kindling lost hope

A look at the tortuous journey for the agitation leading to the creation of Kogi State and the pace of development has made many to erroneously say the dreams of the founding fathers are far from being met.
This is as a result of several unfulfilled expectations, making several many indigenes hold negative opinion about the State and its successive administrations, including the one in the saddle.
While many may have reasons for their unpleasant comments and opinion about where the State ought to have been but has not, majority others however do so only for political reasons.

National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the strike, which is now in its fourth month, would have ended by now if the Federal Government had pursued its negotiations with ASUU with half the energy it had been using to rally various groups to protest against the union.
It described as particularly ridiculous the crowd-for-hire protest in Abuja on Monday by the so-called National Market Women Association, in which their leader vowed to chase lecturers out of Nigeria and replace them with ”jobless Nigerians’.’

As Anambra People go to the polls

By Uche Igwe
I am intimately connected to Anambra State. My wife Chukwunonso hails from there. However my interest in Anambra state goes slightly beyond the type an ordinary in-law should have. I love the entertainment of their politics. It stands out as an intriguing theatre of absurdities. Mostly unpredictable, always filled with uncertainty, sometimes violent and often bizarre. Maybe it has something to do with an average Anambra man, not woman. Many of them have this loud and ostentatious and sometimes irritating attitude and if you doubt me watch the unmistakable arrival of Prince Arthur Eze (Eze n’Ukpo) at the airport, or the stir when next Chief Chris Uba (Eselu Uga) enters the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, or the stampede that heralds Chief (Sir) Emeka Offor’s arrival at any occasion. Take it or leave it, these men have some style and I like them for that. Very interesting and flamboyant notice-me people.

National Confab and Tinubu’s Duplicity

By Francis Ehigiator
Leader of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently launched a major attack against the National Conference proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan: he questioned the president’s sincerity and capability to organize such a conference.  Tinubu did not stop there; he took liberty-in typical opposition manner-to take elaborate swipes at the president, his party and his policies.  He fraudulently claimed there was no tangible achievement yet in Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda, and, therefore, the proposed conference might just be a diversion from the internal wrangling in the PDP or better still, a part of the permutations for the 2015 general elections.

Who is Roti Ameachi fighting for

By Uche Igwe
In recent months I have had a cause to comment on several issues concerning Rivers State. This is because these happenings have far reaching significance beyond the geographic confines of that state. I am heartened that prominent Nigerians like former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka and eminent jurist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) have on several occasions condemned the lawlessness and impunity that have become the style of those who are assaulting the state and its leadership. There are those who have chosen to dismiss my observations as driven by pecuniary benefits, others have threatened, insulted, and even called me  names in order to tarnish my image. Many of these often faceless commentators have opined that I
