The National Association of Pharmaceutical Technologists and Pharmacy Technicians of Nigeria(NAPTPTN) has called on the federal government to expedite action of the bill to establish the regulatory board for NAPTPTN.
The call was contained in a statement issued by the National president of the Association, Comrade Yusuf Hojapa, at the end of its National Executive council Meeting, held in Lokoja.
According to the statement, the board in addition to its regulatory powers, will serve as an umbrella body for the members of the organization.
The president said the NEC drew its powers from the various court rulings in suits which gave victory to NAPTPTN over the Pharmaceutical council of Nigeria,(PCN).
The NEC also said it will continue to work with federal and state agencies to sanitize the practice and as well ensure that its members behaved responsibly in line with extant laws.
The body also called on the federal government to strengthened its boarder security to check the incessant infiltration of fake and sub-standard drugs from coming into the country.
The NEC also commensurate with the family of professor Festus Iyayi who lost his life last week in a fatal motor accident along the Abuja-Lokoja road.
The body used the forum to appeal to the federal government to ensure the timely completion of the dualization work on the Abuja-Lokoja road to forestall future occurrence, saying that no amount is too much to safeguard the lives of Nigerians.
