GOV CONVOY ACCIDENT:FRSC DENIED REPORT


Kogi state sector commander of Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) Mr Olakunle Motayo  has debunked the statement credited to  him over the road accident involving the state governor's convoy that claimed the life of Prof Festus Iyayi.

Addressing newsmen in his office in Lokoja on Wednesday Motajo denied confirming that the vehicle on governor Idris Wada's convoy ran into the bus carrying  the late activist  and his colleagues.

According to him, " we are still investigating the causes of the unfortunate accident and once it is completed , the report will be forward to the FRSC headquarter in Abuja  for further action"

Motayo  added that he was embarrassed when he read over the pages of newspaper quoting  him as confirming that it was the vehicle in the convoy of the

governor that ran into the vehicle of the lecturers,saying how could he said that when he was not at the scene on the fateful day.

The state  commander of FRSC.  further added that accident investigation
officers are on the field investigating  the possible cause of the accident ,pointing out that they are still awaiting their report.

Meanwhile,the sole administrator of the kogi state specialist hospital, Dr.Paul Amodu has disclosed that the late university don might have died as a result of penetrating heart injury.

Dr. Amodu disclosed that the vehicle carrying  the university don  was brushed from the
left hand by the other vehicle,  the late Prof. Iyayi had no other injury or fracture
arising from the accident.

Dr. Amodu disclosed further that the immediate younger brother of the deceased lecturer Barrister Peter  Iyayi who is a staff of federal university Lokoja led other ASSU members from university of Benin to claimed the corpse around 12 pm yesterday.
