The Kogi state government has challenged the Kogi 'Elders' to show proof of its allegation against the government, saying that the onus of proof lays with accuser.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to Governor Idris Wada, on Media and Strategy Mr. Jacob Edi, said it is wrong for these these self appointed 'Elders' to try to rubbish the Judiciary for no just cause.
According to him it has taken years of painstaking efforts by all since the advent of democracy in 1999 to build a solid judicial system, saying no one should debase the noble profession for no just cause.
"We are giving these so called 'Elders' 24 hours to bring forth their proof of the alleged bribe to the judiciary or retract the story without any delay. As elders if they are, they should have their facts before going to press" the statement said
The governor he maintained, has demonstrated high level of tranparency, accountability and high probity in the management of the scarce resource of the state since assumption of office 20 months ago.
According to the Media aid, Captain Idris Wada has enjoyed and is still enjoying the mandate freely given to him by the people of the state and does not need to bribe anyone talk more of the judiciary.
"The governor worn his election overwhelmingly. He has enjoy and is still enjoying the mandate of the good people of Kogi state. The governor does not need to bribe anyone. The judiciary is a very respected profession. They must show proof or appologize the to them.
It would be recalled that Captain Idris Wada on yesterday said that the money accrued to state on account of last years unfortunate flood and SURE-P was fully accounted for amd even published on the pages of newspapers.
He equally defended the N20 billion bond his administration is about to obtain from a consortium of banks and denied allegations of profligacy levelled against him by the group called Kogi Elders.
He described them as political losers who are no longer in touch with their home, saying that the real elders of the state are in touch with home and are aware of the transformation programmes of the Wada administration.
