Three students of the University of Ilorin have left for the Kenyatta University (KU), Nairobi, Kenya on an exchange programme.
The students, who left the country on Friday, September 6, 2013, are Henry Chukuma, Eunice Adeniyi and Christabel Egumedia.
They are all 300 level students of the Department of History and International Studies at the University and they are expected to spend the First Semester of the 2013/2014 academic session at Kenyatta University. Two students from Kenyatta University were earlier in the University of Ilorin for the Second Semester of the 2012/2013 academic session.
This was contained in a memo sent to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, by the Director, Centre for International Education (CIE), Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu.
In the memo signed on behalf of the Director by the Assistant Director, Administrative Affairs, CIE, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluyemisi Fawole, the Centre recalled that the Students Exchange Programme was sequel to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
“The nomination of four students was earlier approved for a semester abroad at KU but the fourth student could not make the journey “for some personal reasons”, according to the CIE memo.
The CIE Director told the Vice-Chancellor that “we have received information that the students have arrived safely at Nairobi and were received by the Centre for International Programmes and Collaborations”, adding that “they are due back in Nigeria on December 17, 2013 after completing the First Semester of their 300 level at KU.”
While in Kenyata University, the students would take the normal courses they are expected to take after which their grades would be transferred to the University of Ilorin for proper documentation.
