Arewa group tasks youth on peace

The Arewa Citizens Action for change (ACAC) has urged youths across the country not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to create insecurity in the country.

The Vice President, North West of the group, Jamil A. Bello, stated this in Lokoja, during a workshop on crisis  prevention and peace advocacy organized by ACAC in conjunction with Centre for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy.

He said the workshop was to ensure peace in the country and put an end to the security challenges that have enveloped some parts of the northern states through peace advocacy.

According to him, they concentrated on the youths because they are the one politicians are using to perpetuate the crisis, saying that similar peace advocacy was organized peace advocacy Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano and Sokoto hoping to extend it to other parts of the country.

" We want the youths to know that politicians only use them to fight for their selfish interest and not the masses interest. We want people to know that  the basis of our existence is God and not tribe or religious. Ibo, Yoruba or Hausa, we should be able to live together for development to thrive," he said

He appealed to government at all level to organize peace advocacy to enlighten the people on the need for peace, saying that it is worrisome that people are being killed on a daily basis while economic activities are being crippled.

Earlier in his address, pastor Jame Oguche called on Nigerians to tolerate each other irrespective of tribe and religion as God has a purpose for our existence as a country.

He urged the people to pray for the nation so as to overcome its security challenges and experience peace.
