Gov Wada warns intending Muslim Pilgrims against bad image


The Kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada has warned the intending Muslim Pilgrims to the Holy Land to desist from act that is capable of bringing the state to disrepute while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Wada who spoke on the occasion of the departure of the pilgrims from the State to the Holy Land yesterday in Lokoja, stated that the pilgrims were expected to behave well so as not to run contrary to the laws of the Holy Land.
The governor pleaded with the intending pilgrims not to indulge in drug pushing and any other illicit activities adding that those offences carry capital punishment in Saudi Arabia.
Wada who also expressed confidence in the contingents that they will not be involve in any un-holy acts, equally called on them especially the political class that are part of the contingent not to allow the political positions to intoxicate them into crude behaviour, stressing that the Saudi authority was capable of reducing any body to size when you are discovered to be running contrary to their laws.   
Earlier, the chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfar Board,  Ustaz Hassan Imam Yahya said 694 persons will be airlifted on Monday to the holy Land from the state. 
He commended the state government for providing necessary assistance the pilgrims.
The chairman called on the governor to impress it on the National Hajj Commission to increase the state slot by next year in order to give opportunity to more people that are desirous of fulfilling the islamic obligation.
