Kogi state police command has arrested a fake State Security Service
operative who specialized in fake recruitment .
Parading the suspect before newsmen at the command
headquarter in Lokoja, the acting police commissioner, Austin
Ebvakhabokun said Egah yahaya John the fake SSS operative was
arrested while trying to dupe one Uche John.
The acting Police Commissioner said members of the syndicate have
collected various sums of money ranging from #25,000- #50,000 from
unsuspecting members of the public with the pretext that they will
help them secure recruitment into the state security service and the
Egah John who claimed to be a class room teacher while questioned by
newsmen confessed to have committed the crime but blamed the devil for
his ordeal.Also paraded was one Yakubu Alfa who specialises in snatching motor
bikes. He was paraded for attacking and dispossessing one Kashim Abubakar of his motorcycle along Awo- Erechi road, Ankpa Local
government area of the state.
The CP said the suspect on investigation confessed that he was
previously convicted and sentenced for the offence of armed robbery
but escaped in the month of November last year at the federal
prisons, Makurdir
Lucky Abdullai was also arrested and charged for robbery and
attempted murder of one Miss Eunice Bunmi Ayeleke, an immigration
officer who was attacked while returning from a church night vigil in
lokoja
The police boss said the suspect with others at large were night
marauders who attack members of the public especially women using
dangerous weapons
He said that all the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as
the police completed their investigations
