Over 30,000 people across Kogi State benefited free medical services initiated by the state government.


Over 30,000 people across the 21 local government area of  Kogi State  have so far  benefited from the ongoing free medical services initiated by the state government.
The Special Adviser to the state governor Captain Idris Wada on free medical/charity, Captain  Yakubu Okatahi disclosed this to newsmen at  Nagazi Hospital in Adavi local government  area, one of the venues of the free medical exercise.
Okatahi said “ since the coming into office of Wada as the governor of  Kogi state , he has made health a cardinal point in his transformation agenda of the administration.
“ the free medical programme has succeeded in taking health services to the door steps of the rural dwellers at no cost to the  beneficiaries in the 21 local government areas  of the state”.
He disclosed that in the second quarter of the free medical programme which he said is still ongoing, over 30,000 patients have been treated for different ailments, saying that in the recent past people died of sickness due to their inability to afford the cost of hospital bill.
The Special Adviser further disclosed that plans has been concluded by the state government to introduce health insurance scheme for the people, pointing out that the scheme would bring health cost to its lowest level for the people  in the state.
According to him, “ the health insurance scheme would necessitate training more medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists and making sure that we have drugs in all the hospitals in the state” .
Also speaking, the leader of the CEDIO Medical , Dr. Ify Okatahi said  “ people have been coming out in their hundreds across the 21 local government area s of the state to avail themselves of the free medical
