KOGI ASSEMBLY URGES GOVT TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY IN EDUCATION SECTOR


Kogi State Assembly has called on the state government to declare state of emergency in Education sector in the state as matter of urgency.

The Speaker Kogi state House Assembly, Alhaji Momoh Jimoh Lawal who made this call while adopting a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Honourable Henry Ojuola.

Lawal who admitted that the entire education system is not doing well at all, calling on the on Ojuola to partner with the House Committee on Education to provide urgent solution before the total collapse of the ailing sector.

Earlier in his motion, the lawmaker representing Yagba East constituency, Henry Ojula has drawn the attention of the House to the declining performance of kogi students at the public examinations, noting that something need to be done to salvage the situation.

Ojuola who substantiated his argument with the recent state owned newspaper report, the Graphic the state  has returned to the menace of examination malpractices in the education system.

He pointed out that the state is rated as number 5th worse examination malpractices in Nigeria and worst in the North Central zone.

"Also in the in the publication of graphics quoted above, five secondary schools were said on front page, to have been blacklisted by the West africa Examination Council. WAEC. This was further proved from my research on the internet as reported by WAEC that Kogi state Educational Malpractices in our education system has become worsened", he stressed.            

He therefore prayed that all relevant agencies, the Commissioner, chairmen and all other stakeholders be summoned by the House as part of effort revive the ailing education sector.
