NAPEP TO EXECUTE 50 PROJECTS IN KOGI

National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) is to implement 50 projects in 9 Local Government Areas drawn from the 3 Senatorial District of Kogi state which is expected to cover the area of Rice production and processing, Fisheries and Agriculture.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President and National Coordinator, NAPEP, Alhaji Murktar Abubakar Tafawa Balewa disclosed this on the occasion of the Flag-off of the grassroots state's projects held at Glass House, Government House Lokoja.

According to him, NAPEP has committed the sum of N20 Million naira while Kogi state government has graciously contributed N10 Million naira as counter part funds.

He mentioned that this proJects is revolving scheme  and not a grant, so that many beneficiaries could be become independent over a period as the funds are paid back.

Alhaji Murktar stressed further that Kogi state has taken giant strides in collaboration with NAPEP with regards to cassava processing plants in Egbeda, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state adding that last year NAPEP and Kogi state each contributed the project which will take off soon.

While speaking, the Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada commended NAPEP for assisting the state during the flood adding that they will always paid their counterpart funds so that the state can continue to benefit from NAPEP.

He called on beneficiaries to use the fund wisely so that other people can benefit from the scheme.
