The new People's Democratic Party PDP National Chairman,Alhaji Adamu Mauzu says he will work towards truely making the party democratic.
The National Chairman stated this when he received a delegation of the party from Kogi State led by the Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada. Alh Mauzu said he desires to build a party where internal democracy and no imposition of candidates will thrive.
The National Chairman described the PDP as a party that is strong,and said it is a party for the future progress of the country.
The Chairman promised to work hard in repositioning the party and to regain lost ground.
Alh. Adamu said his dream for the party is for the party to compete favorably with parties like the ANC,appealed for cooperation to enable the party regain lost ground and win more representation in 2015.
The National Chairman called for forgiveness from those aggrieved by the party,promised to correct all the mistakes made in the past by the party.
The chairman concluded by saying the party will henceforth reward performance and loyalty,said the party may be going through challenges at the moment but assured that it will come out stronger.
Earlier in his remarks,Capt Idris Wada the Kogi State Governor and leader of the delegation,congratulated the new national chairman on his emergence as the party's Chairman.
He commended him for his plans to institutionalize internal democracy,party discipline,rule of law and the constitution of the party.
Capt Wada described the National Chairman as a focused leader and as a manager of resources,said his efforts at repositioning the party is commendable.
While describing Kogi as a PDP state,Capt Wada said his administration has adhered to the manifesto's of the party and has operated an inclusive administration.
The Governor added that he has made efforts at assuaging aggrieved persons within the party towards making the transformation agenda of his administration collective.
He added that his administration had since the last two years made remake able impact on Agriculture,good governance and human capital development,called on the chairman to rally round the party towards making the desired progress.
In his speech,Hon Hassan Salawu,State Chairman of the PDP,said the party is united in Kogi State and commended the State Governor for displaying simplicity and transparency.
The State Chairman commended the party for entrenching internal democracy and for its efforts in meeting the yearning and aspirations of the people.
The PDP Chairman called on the new PDP National Chairman to rally round the present administration in the state,as the party he noted will deliver PDP in all elections in 2015.
The Meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi, former Governor Ibrahim Idris,Speaker of the State House of Assembly,Momoh Jimoh Lawal and Members of the Board of Trustees from the state led by Chief Philip Salawu. Also at the visit were the PDP National and the State Assembly Members from the State.
Others are the Working Committee Members of the party at the National level and those of the State who were led by the state Chairman of the party,Hon Hassan Salawu.
Similarly,David Jemibewon,Sen. Tunde Ogbeha,Hon Musa Ahmadu,Patrick Adaba,Salihu Ibrahim,Chief Gabriel Aduku,Sule Iyaji, Sen. Nicholas Ugbane,Prince Olushola Akanmode and Members of the State Executive Council. Others are the twenty one Council Chairmen and Party Chairmen from the State,party leaders and elders of the party across the State.
