When Alloy as he is popularly referred to by his supporters and admirers, was sworn into office in April 2013, by the workerholic Governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada, along with other chairmen across the state, he left no one in doubt as to his preparedness to leave a positive footprint on the sands of time in the administration of Ajaokuta Local government area.
Haven served briefly as liaison officer of the council he came face to face with the fact that there is high level of corruption, poverty and under development among other ills.
As a man who is never afraid to confront challenges he faced these monsters frontally. He set in motion the process of sanitizing the local government, while also carrying on with his developmental projects across the length and breath of the council area.
There is massive intervention in agricultural development. His efforts at making agriculture a business concern and the main stay of his people is already yielding positive result. It is on record that he was the first chairman to key into the agricultural revolution of the Captain Idris Wada administration in Kogi state.
Today, the people of the area are happy with this achievements. He has undertaken a progressive approach to youths and women development, construction and rehabilitation of rural feeder roads, provision of water to communities which for decades have no access to portable water and more importantly his all inclusive approach to governance which has help to instill peace in the area.
As a man who also believes that the resource of the council must be used for the people, he was able to fight corruption headlong. Several millions was saved in the process. This approach has become a model for the other parts of the state today.
No doubt, he has also become a shinning example as the first ALGON chairman to undertake the construction of a permanent secretariat for the Association. This is commendable.
No wonder, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi state council gave him the prestigious honour as a patron of this noble organization. In his word, the chairman of the NUJ, kogi state council Alhaji Ali Atabor, described Aloysius Okino as " a worthy ambassador of not only his immediate community but that of the state and Nigeria at large"
He said that NUJ honours are not for sale or to the highest bidder, but for those who has lived exemplary life and has contributed to the development of the society, which according to him Aloysius rightly deserved.
Similarly, the recent award of the most prudent chairman conferred on him by Ibro Leadership Initiative, in conjunction with Mentors Communications, Abuja is a further confirmation of the chairman's commitment to excellent service delivery.
The chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi state, Alhaji Hassan Salawu was also not left out in the commendations to Okino. He described him as a model for other political office holders in the state. He noted that Alloy's giant stride in development should be emulated by other chairmen in the state. While maintaining that nothing less could be expected from this young and dynamic chairman, judging from his family background. He further describe Aloysius Okino as "young in age but very old intellectually" saying that his humble disposition has endeared him to many.
It is on record that he remains the first chairman to have ever remembered to visit the state secretariat of the party after they worn election on the platform of the party.
His leadership style has brought about unity and progress in Ajaokuta LGA. There is less acrimony and suspicion due to his ability to harmonize and cross fertilize ideas.
The chairman's step so far has further assured the people, that he can be trusted
The people may not have attain the level of development and transformation they envisaged, but the positive steps taken so far by the chairman and his lieutenants, is a clear demonstration of his vision and mission for his people.
Today the name Aloysius Okino has become a household name. He meant different things to so many people. To some he is a crusader to others he is an emacipator. From what ever angle you look at him, he set an enviable standard that may be difficult to erase.
