LACK OF UNITY IS THE BANE OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT---CAPTAIN WADA

Kogi State governor Captain Idris Wada has identified lack of unity and co-operation among the leaders in the country as the bane of under development.

Wada stated this over the weekend at the occasion of conferment of awards of a "worthy successor"  on him and hero merit award on the former governor of the state Alhaji Ibrahim Idris by Mentor Communication limited, Abuja in collaboration  with IBRO leadership initiative, in government house, Lokoja. 



According to him , it is worrisome  when  leaders can not come together as one and  speak with one voice  for  the development of the country , saying the essence of leadership is to effect positive change in the lives of the people.

He said " my continuous closeness with the immediate past governor of the state Alhaji Ibrahim Idris is to tap out of his abundant wealth of experience to move the state to enviable height, I don't  owed any body apology for consulting the former governor on salient issues that affect the state before I took my decisions".

Wada who said that some people in the country seek power for the purpose of oppressing others and cause damage and injustice to the people , noted that the position of governor is a very powerful position in the constitution of Nigeria, saying for him ,  he seek power to transform Kogi state by engaging in better things that will improve the lot of the people in the state.


According to him " the aim of seeking power is to impact positively on the lives of the people, it is not fair to suppress others or do injustice. What every leaders need is the fear of God and equity which is the ways of God all mighty"

He  stressed that the former governor have never instructed him to complete his uncompleted project, saying when he took the mantle of leadership as the governor of the state , he met some of the projects at their various level of completion, noting that he decided to complete them in the interest of the people of the state who are the direct users of those project.

Earlier, the former governor who also received leadership merit award as the father of modern Kogi State said it is very difficult to see a former governor in the country being celebrated in his state after leaving office, saying his achievement while in office was borne out of the total support gained from the people .

He added that it is God who have the capacity to  gives power to whoever he wish , saying Captain Idris Wada had already been destined  by God to be the next governor of the state after him, pointing out that God only used him to actualize the destiny.

While stressing that his successor will never disappoint the state, he charged  the people to support the present administration so as to enjoy the desired dividend of democracy.

In his speech, The project co-ordinator IBRO Leadership Initiative , Hon Simeon Omale said the award give to 12 other awardees was to spur them to do more for the benefit of humanity.
