SSS ARREST REV. GODSON AKUBUIRO OVER FAKE CURRENCY


The Department of the State Security in Kogi State has smashed a fake
currency syndicate headed by Rev.Godson Akubuiro,the General Overseer of the Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry in Lagos State.

Parading the suspect and 15 others in Lokoja, the Director of
the State Security Services in the state,Mr. Mike Fubara said the
operation lasted for close to four'months before the syndicate could
be smashed.

He pointed out that the organization decided to undertake the covert
operation to uncover those behind act following incessant incidence of
fake currency circulating in the state.

He further disclosed that the suspects would be prosecuted upon the
conclusion of the on-going investigation into the matter,adding that
N1.3 million cash has been recovered from them.

The SSS director warned members of the public to be wary of the
exisence of fake naira notes in circulation,urging them not to
hesitate in reporting any suspect to the security agencies in the
state.

He stressed that the Department of the State Security and other
agencies were poised to stem the tide of fake currency circulation and
other crimes in the country.

In a brief interview,the leader of the syndicate,Rev. Godson Akubuiro
admitted engaging in the crime,disclosing that he was introduced into
it by one Hamza who has now joined his ancestors.

He said he joined the "business" in November last year,adding however
that he has committed blunder by engaging in crime.

According to him,the "Devil tempted David and he fell",and pleaded
with the authorities to forgive him for the sins he committed.
