11 killed in a Road accident in Kogi


Eleven persons on Wednesday lost their lives while three others sustained serious injuries in an accident that happend at Offejiji village along Ankpa -Anyigba road.

Eyewitness said the accident happened at about 6am when one of the vehicle heading towards Anyigba overtook another vehicle dangerously and in the process  collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, killing 14 persons and injuring three on the spot.

The Kogi state Sector Commander, Olakunle Motajo, who confirmed the accident   blamed it on wrongful overtaken on the part of the drivers, calling on motorists to change their altitude while on the road so as to reduced accident to the barest minimum.

According to him, the accident involved  a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number LG 46 BG and a Blue truck lorry with registration number BLG 76 XA respectively.

He said 14 people were involved in the accident, 11 died while three others injured, saying that among the dead were two adult male, one male child, six female adult and two female child.

The Sector command said the injured victim have been taken to   Grimmard hospital at Anyigba while the corpses were deposited at the same hospital's mortuary.
