Towards making better decision in leadership position, professional managers have been asked to bring in their wealth of experience in time,financial and human resource management in their different fields of endeavors. 
The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 2013 Annual National Management Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
Awoniyi who was honored with the Institutes highest award of Fellowship at the occasion, called on professionals to remain dedicated,committed and work with a high sense of responsibility and                                                                           accountability to deliver good governance.
While noting that the task of getting the country up and running should not be left in the hands of government alone,Awoniyi appealed to professionals to be actively involved in public policy advocacy by addressing burning and contemporary issues of national importance.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, Awoniyi urged professional managers to uphold honesty and integrity and to do away with other vices that are common in work place.
In his address,National President of Nigerian Institute of Management,Chief (Dr) Micheal Olawale Cole described ineffective leadership as the bane of the nations development since independence.
While noting that the country is blessed with human and natural resources,said it takes commitment and focus to deliver good governance.
The NIM president called for political will from political leaders adding that the best democracies of the world thrive on good governance.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor,Godswill Akpabio,represented by his Deputy Her Honour,Noble Lady Valerie Eba,said essentials of good governance in a progressive transformation in Democracy cannot be over stated,called for good conduct,accountability,inclusiveness,rule of law and efficient management of resources as indicators that breeds good governance.
In his speech at the occasion, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,who was the Special Guest of Honour,said the efforts of his administration is geared towards diversification of the economy,said building of safety nets,reform in the Agriculture,rail,road and port reform agenda have top the agenda of his administration.
The President who was represented by the Head of Service of the Federation,Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji,said his administration is committed to delivery of democracy dividends through good governance critical to the well-being of the people.
The President while commending the institute for its partnership in the provision of good governance,assured of creating political stability for job creation,wealth creation and for businesses to flourish.
Highlights of the conference was the decoration of the State Deputy Governor,by the representative of the President who described the honor as well deserved in view of the level of hard work and transparency in his supportive role to the Capt Idris Wada's administration.
